Stoughton- Dale F. Doering, age 92, passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at home with his family by his side. Â He was born in Gratiot, WI on August 24, 1916, a son of Fred and Blanch ( Lund) Doering. Â On August 5, 1937, he was united in marriage to Eleanor Bancroft in Freeport, IL. Â Dale graduated from the University of Platteville in 1939 and taught science and vocational agriculture for 20 years. Â In 1951, he started the vocational agriculture program in Verona. Â After finishing out his teaching career in Stoughton, he worked in the life insurance and securities sales field until his retirement. Â During that time he received many awards. Â Dale and his wife of almost 72 years enjoyed traveling in the U.S. and other countries, as well as square dancing and a good game of cards. Â He was a member of Covenant Lutheran Church and a 50 year member of the Lions International Club, serving as Governor of Lions for District 27D at which time, he and his wife traveled to Japan as representatives of Lions International. Â Dale received the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award in 1993, the highest honor conferred by the Lions Club Foundation. Â Dale was a Past Master of Kegonsa Lodge #73 in Stoughton, and was a 32nd degree Mason. Â He was a former secretary of the Stoughton Junior Fair, and a past member of the Stoughton School Board and the Stoughton City Band. Â Dale is survived by his wife Eleanor; son Conrad (Alice); daughter, Priscilla (Peter) Dunn; 9 grandchildren, Vicki (Tim) Hayes, Mark (Leslie) Doering, Shari (Bill) Dreher, Traci (John) Danaher, Cindi (John) Murphey, Rick (Kathy) Maerz, Ronda (Terry) Grinde, Rachelle (Mike) Fiskey, and Colleen Marcussen (Brenda); 21 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; his brother, Paul; as well as many nieces and nephews. Â He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 sisters, Lillian and Geraldine; a sister-in-law, Sheila; and a brother-in-law, Wayne Vanderheyden. Â Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2009 at 11:00 am at Covenant Lutheran Church, 1525 N. Van Buren, Stoughton, with the Rev. Mark Petersen officiating. Â A luncheon will follow services at church. Â The family will greet friends on Friday, July 17th from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at the Olson-Holzhuter-Cress Funeral Home in Stoughton, where a Masonic service will be held, following the visitation at 6:00pm. Â Friends may call again at church on Saturday from 10:00 am until the time of service.
