Dan Schimmel

McFarland - Dan K. Schimmel, age 68, passed away on Sunday April 24, 2016 at St. Mary's Hospital, Madison Wisconsin. Dan (Danny) was born on September 19, 1947 in Green Bay, Wisc., the son of Melvin and Elizabeth (Hupf) Schimmel. He graduated from Green Bay East High School in 1966. He married Jane Wahlers in July of 1987, in Green Bay.

Dan worked for a number of years at Brown County Nursing Home, Green Bay, Wisconsin in the billing department. Most recently he worked for Frito-Lay, Inc. in Madison before retiring in 2006. Dan had a passion for sports, particularly baseball (Milwaukee Brewers) and football (Green Bay Packers). Dan was quite a baseball player in his youth and enjoyed talking sports to anyone with a common interest.

He is survived by his wife Jane and their children Jacob Schimmel and Carly Schimmel (McFarland) ; other children Christine Schimmel, Jeff Schimmel, and Susie Van Laanen (all of Green Bay, Wisc); 13 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild; brother, Lanny (Rosie) Schimmel; sisters, Barbara Perkins and Edna (Donald) Preston, and special nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Al, Bill (Barbara survives), and Mick (Darlene survives); sisters, Helen, Joyce, and Ruth.

No public services are being planned. Dan will be laid to rest in Green Bay, Wisconsin after a private memorial service.
