Dan D. Smith

Dan D Smith, passed away peacefully on Sunday April 7, 2024. He was born on May 1, 1946 in Richland Center, WI to Branson Charles Smith and Edna Clary Smith. Dan was the youngest of 3 boys all-separated by 7 years. 

Dan grew up on a dairy farm where he helped his father, and he went on to graduate from Richland Center High School in 1964. He entered the United States Navy in 1966 where he was aboard the USS Forrestal and was stationed in Virginia. He received his honorable discharge and then went on to UW Platteville where he obtained his bachelor’s degree in business with a minor in accounting in 1972. 

Dan was married to Vicky Lynn Tyler on August 13, 1966, and they celebrated an amazing 57 years. Together, they went on to have four children: Steven, Deborah, Marcus, and Bob which; three of them live nearby to this day. Unfortunately, they lost Steven Charles Smith in 1985. 

Dan D. Smith was a long time American Family employee serving as a Senior Underwriter of auto insurance.  Once he retired, it gave him the time to enjoy his passion for golf. He would spend a lot of time on various courses with Vicky. His favorite course was Fox Lake Golf Club. Dan and Vicky loved to take trips and Branson; MO was a more memorable one for them.

Smith is survived by his wife Vicky Lynn Tyler Smith; children Deborah Ann Smith LaBrosse (Ricky LaBrosse), Marcus Allen Smith (Claire Smith), and Bob Christopher Smith; and grandchildren Shania Patricia Lynn LaBrosse (Morgan Smith), McKenzie Rose LaBrosse (Brendon Meehan), Carissa Lindau (Logan Lindau), Jordan Smith (Ricky Somanathan), Taylor Ervin (Sederick Ervin Jr); and great-grandchild Jameson Lindau. 

Dan D Smith was preceded in death by Branson Charles Smith, Edna Clary Smith, Harley Smith (Liz Smith), Bud Smith (Fern Smith), and Whitney Smith.
