Daniel J. Meyer

Daniel J. Meyer, our beloved "Bumpy", passed away on January 27, 2025 at 90 years of age. 

Dan was born on March 15, 1934 in Waunakee, WI to Ethelbert and Teresa Meyer. He attended Waunakee High School and was chosen as a representative to Badger Boys State. As a member of the Prom Court, he was also part of the committee that organized class reunions.

After high school, he served as a Navy medic in California.

On October 25, 1958, he married Ann Eisele at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Madison. While Ann waitressed in the evenings, Dan fed and cared for his children, who have fond memories of his specialties, including Chef Boyardee pizza and martian burgers.

Dan worked his entire career at Wisconsin Power and Light, eventually working up to the position of payroll supervisor. After retirement, he dabbled in real estate and worked part time at the Pleasant Company for over 15 years.

Dan valued family, faith, and community above all else. He volunteered his time as a RSVP driver in Waunakee and was very involved in Knights of Columbus and other church activities. As a KC, he held multiple leadership roles, including Grand Knight. He was also Council Treasurer for 38 years. Dan volunteered at many KC events, and was very happy doing so. In addition to giving of his time, he was also very generous to those in need, donating money to many worthy causes through the years.

Dan will be dearly missed by family and friends. Always smiling, he will be remembered for his sweet and friendly demeanor. His was a life well lived, and as a reward, hopefully he will find Milk Duds (his favorite treat) in heaven.

Dan is survived by his brother, Ralph, and his five children: Mary, Susan (Donald) Allen, Joseph (Danielle) Meyer, Catherine (Patrick) Crahen, and James. He is also survived by his six grandchildren: Anna and Beth (Teddy Zhang) Allen, Zachary and Emma Meyer, and Catelyn and Cameron Crahen. Dan was preceded in death by his wife Ann, and grandson, Harrison.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Feb. 6,2025 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Catholic Church 209 South St. Waunakee. Friends may call at the church on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services. Burial will take place in the church cemetery
