Daniel L. McKinley

b. July 31, 1951

Madison - Dan McKinley, ""Danno,"" age 59. passed away Saturday morning, March 5, 2011 due to liver disease.   Danno had a short life but it was filled with many different adventures.  He attended UW-Platteville, worked at Wick Homes, married Debbie Hahn with whom he had a daughter Kelly, and served in the US Army where he was stationed in Germany.  Danno then attended MATC and found employ in the Dept. of Transportation for the state of Wisconsin, first in Superior and then transferring to Madison.  His greatest adventure was marriage to Shelagh Cullen.  They adopted two boys, Michael and Christopher.   Danno enjoyed hunting and fishing with his father, brothers, and friends.  He was known for co-hosting an annual game feed for many years.  Danno loved cooking and canning vegetables and enjoying the results of those efforts.  He liked reading science fiction books and watching Packer and Badger games.   He is survived by his sons Christopher and Michael, Mike's girlfriend Maria, and their daughter Emma.  Emma was the source of much pride and joy in the last year of Danno's life.  He is further survived by his siblings and their spouses:  Tim (Mary), Margaret (Bill), Mary Pat (Peter), Marcia (Dan), Nancy (Kevin), Joe (Penny), Doug (Lori) and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his wife Shelagh, his parents Dan and Lorna McKinley, and his siblings Terese and Marc.   The family would like to thank the fine staffs at Meriter Hospital and hospice, Dr. DuPree, and especially Dr. John Ewalt.   Services will be held Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at 11 a.m. at OUR LADY QUEEN OF PEACE PARISH, 401 S. Owen Dr., Madison, WI 53711.   A visitation will be held prior to service beginning at 10 a.m.
