Daniel "Danny" C. Moe

MCFARLAND- Daniel “Danny” C. Moe, passed away suddenly on May 20th, 2023, at the age of 61. He was born in Stoughton, WI on July 14th, 1961 the son of Barbara Brandt Moe McDermott and Charles Moe.

As a child, Daniel spent time on the Moe family farm in Stoughton. When his mother was remarried to Bill McDermott in 1971, they both worked for the US government. Dan traveled with them and his sister Karen to Germany, attending school and eventually coming back to the US where he graduated high school from El Paso, Texas in 1980.

In early 1989, Daniel met Julie Stopen, who at the time had twin daughters that were two years old, Rochelle and Rebecca, who he raised as his own. In 1990, Dan and Julie had a son, Casey.

Dan enjoyed coaching Casey and his teammates in Tri-County basketball for four years. Dan and Casey also enjoyed working together on lawn care services for many years in McFarland. He also loved playing softball and pool leagues with his friends. He was always willing to lend a hand to any friends or family in need.

Dan and Julie were together for 34 years and loved their vacations to Mexico with friends, trips to northern WI, and many family gatherings.

Dan is survived by his partner Julie Richmond Stopen; his son Casey (Alley) Moe of McFarland; two daughters, Rochelle Stopen Dietzel of Fond Du Lac and Rebecca Stopen of West Bend; four grandchildren; Emma Stopen, Chase Dietzel, Markus Anderson, and Harper Tscharner.  Dan is further survived by his sister Karen Mechaelsen of Austin, Minnesota and many other relatives and countless friends.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather, and brother-in-law Brad Mechaelsen.

A celebration of life will be held from 3-7:00 PM on Friday, June 9th, 2023 McFarland American Legion, 4911 Burma Road, McFarland.
