Daniel M. O'Donnell
Waunakee-Dan O'Donnell, age 54, passed away from a courageous 5-year battle with cancer on Friday, December 9, 2011. He was looking forward to being with Jesus, his Lord and savior in heaven.
He was born on February 14, 1957 to Kenneth and Patricia O'Donnell. He graduated from Monona Grove High School in 1975. He then went on to graduate from Madison School of Electronics in 1977.
Dan has been dedicated to his work at Thermo Fisher Scientific for 34 years, most recently as a Service Manager.
Dan enjoyed walking, biking, and traveling with his family.
Dan always had a special smile, positive outlook, and a desire to live life to the fullest. He was a kind, giving person.
He is survived by his parents, Kenneth and Patricia O'Donnell of Fort Myers, FL; his two children, Benjamin of Madison, and Emily (friend Bart Smith) of Waunakee; significant other Deb Sweeney of Waunakee; his two sisters, Pam O'Donnell of Monona, and Penny (Bert) Bateman of Dresbach, MN; Grandma, Claudine Rinden of Sun Prairie; and the mother of his children, Marcia O'Donnell of Waunakee. He is further survived by two aunts, two uncles, three nephews, two nieces, two great-nieces, and several cousins.
He is preceded in death by his grandpa, Stanley Rinden; grandparents, Milton and Irma Schwerin; and great-grandma "Beauty Shop" (Martha Rinden).
Visitation will be held at WINN-CRESS FUNERAL HOME in Waunakee from 5-8 pm on Monday, December 12, 2011. The celebration of Dan's life will be held at PEACE LUTHERAN CHURCH, 701 Century Ave., Waunakee on Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at 11 am, with visitation prior at 10 am. A Luncheon will follow the service. Burial will be at Sunset Memory Gardens. Memorials in Dan's name may be given to American Cancer Society for Colon Rectal Cancer research.
