Daniel Powell

Marshall - Daniel John (D. J.) Powell passed away Sept. 23rd, 2011 in California while vacationing with his wife and friends at the age of 53. He was born in Reedsburg, WI on Oct. 20, 1957 to Lynn and Audrey (Schirmang) Powell. He attended Webb High and graduated in 1975. He furthered his education in the electronic field at the Wisconsin School of Electronics (Madison). In 1977 he married the love of his life, Mary Bolton. Together they raised two wonderful sons, Ryan and Aaron, that made them proud everyday. DJ was ALWAYS a friend that you could count on and would do absolutely anything for anyone.

Daniel was a past member of the Marshall Village Board, Marshall Elk's Club # 410 in Madison, he volunteered much of his time with the Marshall Lions club as past president, founder of the Steak and Lobster feed and most recently he served as their treasurer. He earned the Melvin Jones fellowship award for his lifetime dedication to humanitarian services. Dan was always a "do it yourself" kind of guy and could build and fix just about anything. . He loved woodworking, partying with his friends and ALWAYS looked forward to the yearly "Fishing with Milo" Canadian trip.
Dan was employed at GTE for 24 years as a project manager before retiring. He was presently employed at Certco food distribution warehouse as an inventory specialist.

Dan is survived by: Wife- Mary of Marshall; sons, Ryan (Jan) Powell of Milwaukee and Aaron (girlfriend-Kelle Mc Cary) of Apple Valley , CA; his 1st grandson due in October; Dan's parents, Lynn and Audrey Powell of Reedsburg; his sister, Judi (Ray) Bandeko of Portage and their children Lucas Byington of LaValle and Lauryn (Ethan) Pixler of Eau Claire; his mother-in-law, Clara Bolton; Sister-in-laws, Linda (Al) Yanke, Shirley (Emmett) Fuller, Sue (Randy) Evans and Sandy (Kevin) Churchill; brother-in-laws; Doug Bolton, Dick Bolton and Mike (Kathy) Bolton; as well as many other Aunts and Uncles, nieces and nephews and his furry best friend "Pawz".

He was proceeded in death by his grandparents, Etta and Chester Powell and John and Emma Shirmang; his father-in-law, James Bolton; a brother-in-law, Kenny as well as Aunts, Uncles and cousins.

In Lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the family for a community project that was dear to Dan's heart.

Funeral services will be held at the Marshall High School, 623 Madison Street, Marshall, WI on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at 6:00 PM. Rev. Paul Anderson will officiate. A visitation will also be held at the school from 2:00 PM until the time of service. Cremation rites will be accorded at a later date.
