Daniel John Shadduck

September 30, 1950 — January 8, 2009

NEW GLARUS- Daniel John Shadduck, age 58, passed away on Thursday, January 8, 2009, at the UW Hospital, from emergency surgery on January 1, 2009. Dan was born on September 30, 1950, in Antigo, WI, the seventh child of Lavern and Lucille (Gauthier) Shadduck. He was a graduate of Bear Creek High School and the UW-Madison. Dan served his country in the U.S. Air Force and was a Viet Nam veteran. He was a federal employee at the Wildlife Health Center in Madison as a research microbiologist.

Dan was a man of many amazing talents and special qualities. He was a wonderful cook, an excellent carpenter and an accomplished photographer. He was a great brother and a loyal friend. Dan was an incredible uncle to his nieces and nephews; spending quality time with them and teaching and nurturing them through life. He enjoyed traveling, his prairie garden, nature, debating and loved his dogs.

Dan is survived by his brothers: Guy Shadduck of Bear Creek, Joe (Jo) Shadduck of Nekoosa, Tom Shadduck of Appleton, and Jerry (Ratree) Shadduck of Spokane, Washington; sisters: Judy (Dennis) Chipman of New Berlin, Jackie (Larry) Boushley of Appleton, Ginger (Dale) Kriewaldt of Shiocton, Mae (Wayne) Schweitzer of Watertown and Rosena (Steve) Wilson of Panama City Beach, FL. He was preceded in death by his father, Lavern E. Shadduck; his mother, Lucille M. Shadduck; a brother, Michael; and a sister, Theresa Shadduck.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 AM on Friday, January 16, 2009, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 500 W Marquette St., Appleton, WI with a visitation from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Memorial donations may be made to the Green County Humane Society, P.O. Box 54, Monroe, WI 53566. Cards and remembrances may be sent to his sister at 1042 Richards Ave., Watertown, WI 53094.
