Daniel J. Stewart

Daniel J. Stewart, 40, of Madison, died unexpectedly on Sunday, August 3, 2008, at his home.   Dan was born on May 23, 1968, in Toledo, Ohio, and was the son of Lauren and Deborah (Mitchka) Stewart.   Dan was awarded the Masters of Fine Arts (Poetry), with honors, from The Ohio State University.   He continued in his love of poetry and literature and shared this with his children.   He was an accomplished photographer, a keen chess player, a great parent as a tender and loving father.   Dan was an active supporter of many community organizations including Madison Ballet; Madison Country Day School, serving as the Board Chair; Madison Children's Museum; RSVP Madison; Planned Parenthood of Michigan; NARAL Ohio; and the Columbus Children's Hospital, Columbus, Ohio.   Most recently, he was Chief Executive Officer of Stewart Security, Inc.( Worthington, Ohio).   Dan is survived by Jon, Erik, and Laura, his children with Katharina S. (Sprinkel) Stewart; his parents, Lauren and Deborah Stewart of Westerville, Ohio; his sister, Rachel St. John, of Columbus, Ohio; and his nephews, Mackenzie, Joel and David.   He was preceded in death by his grandparents.   A private family celebration will be held.
