Daniel M. Webster, age 69, of Union Grove passed away on Wednesday, June 24, 2020. He was born to the late Grant Webster and Carol Johnson Storrs on August 19, 1950 in Madison. Danny endured an injury during birth that caused him to be increasingly disabled. At age 3, he had a massive grand mal seizure. With the advice of specialists and the family doctor, it was decided that Danny should be placed in an institution where he could receive around-the-clock care. In 1953, as a ward of the State of Wisconsin, Danny was placed at the Southern Wisconsin Center in Union Grove, Wisconsin near Racine. At the time he was not expected to live beyond 5 years old. The residents and staff became Danny’s second family and he was a staff favorite due to his easy-going demeanor.
Danny loved picnics, going on road trips, eating M & M’s, spending time outdoors, and his weighted blanket. He especially loved music, and with the help of music therapy he was able to enjoy different forms of music. It was very soothing for him and when anxious created a calming effect.
Danny is survived by his siblings Michael (Marcia) Webster, Candy (Howie) Hanold, David (Sandi) Webster, Cindy (Mike) McCarthy, and Heidi (Dale) Knuteson; uncle Tom (Helen) Johnson, aunt Pat (Dick) Moe, several nephews, nieces and cousins and all his cherished family at Southern Wisconsin Center.
He is preceded in death by his parents and a special aunt Marjorie Pettey.
Private graveside family services will be held on Friday, July 17th. The family wishes to thank the Southern Wisconsin Center for their many years of kind compassionate care.
