Middleton - Dante "Dan" Bove, age 91, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2012. Dan was born on June 15, 1920 to Loreto and Rose (Tolo) Bove in Bridgewater, Mass. and grew up in Waterford, Conn.
After graduating from Columbia University with a degree in Chemical Engineering, Dan worked for American Cyanamid chemical company. His 40-year career at the company included engineering and management positions in both New Jersey and Connecticut. After retirement, he was active for many years as a volunteer in the AARP Volunteer Tax Assistance Program.
On Oct. 28, 1950 Dan married Julia Charnifsky, a devoted marriage that lasted for over sixty-one years. Dan and Julie lived on the East Coast, primarily in New Jersey, until 2008, when they moved to Middleton, WI. Dan was a loving, supportive husband, father and grandfather.
Dan was a vibrant, active person, always fully engaged with family and friends and in the interests he pursued. He was an avid golfer and bowler; took pleasure in attending all kinds of concerts, lectures, and theater performances; and enjoyed activities that exercised his analytic skills, including crossword puzzles and reading detective novels. Capable and patient, he loved tackling any problem. He valued his close, lifelong friends on the East Coast and enjoyed the more recent friendships he made in Wisconsin.
Dan is survived by his wife, Julia; children, Mark (Aimee), and Fredi-Ellen (Rob Meyer); grandchildren Carissa Meyer (Scott Schnee), Eric Meyer, Ryan, Aaron and Ari. Dan is further survived by his brother, Thomas and sister, Elizabeth and many other relatives and friends.
Dan was preceded in death by his brother, Henry, and sister, Mary Kelly, and brother-in-law, Irving Charnifsky.
