In Loving Memory of Darlene Skolaski

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Darlene “Dar” Skolaski. Dar peacefully passed on March 8, 2024, after a brief stay at Agrace Hospice in Fitchburg. 

Born on September 8^th, 1944, Dar was brought home to Milton Street in her cherished Greenbush neighborhood in Madison. She attended Longfellow School in her early years, before moving to the Fourth Ward on Wilson Street, where she graduated from Central High School in 1962. She remained lifelong friends with those she met in school. 

Dar felt immensely blessed in life, embracing its challenges, adventures, sorrows, joys and above all, its abundance of love. She cherished the wonderful people she encountered on her journey, each leaving an indelible mark on her heart. In her own words, “I want you to know how much I love you all.”

Dar will be fondly remembered for her culinary skills and her talent for hosting gatherings. Her passion for cooking and entertaining brought joy to many. 

She is survived by daughter Jodene (Darvi) Rahaman of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and their sons Clay and Wade; her son John (Amy) Skolaski of Madison, and their daughters Rachel and Sarah; her longtime partner Jim Montgomery of Madison, and his daughters Stacy, Michelle and Deanna; her dear friend and cooking partner Joe Ziesel; her niece Denise Falk and her children, along with many other cherished friends. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Loretta and Norbert Wagner, her brother Delbert Wagner, and her niece Dette. 

Dar wanted to express her gratitude to all her loving and caring friends — “Thank you for always being there for me. Keep the memories, keep the love, and keep laughing. I love you.”

Visitation will be held Saturday, April 13, 2024, at Cress Funeral Home, 3610 Speedway Rd, Madison, WI from 10:30 am until 11:30 am with a service to follow. 

The family extends heartfelt appreciation to Agrace, Nurse Ben, Michelle, and Marsahra for the care and support they provided Darlene during this past year.
