Darrel Alberts

SUN PRAIRIE-Darrel Alberts, age 79, was called to heaven on Tuesday, July 20, 2021.  He was born on August 18, 1941, in Britton, SD the son of Joe and Violet (Leuning) Alberts and lived most of his life in Dell Rapids.  Darrel graduated from Trent High School.  Shortly after, he joined the Army Reserves.  He started a job in radiology in Madison and met Janice.  He was united in marriage to Janice Stelter on November 26, 1966, in Tomah.  Together they were blessed with three children.  Darrel was a dedicated realtor for 34 years.  He also loved to serve others with his time and talents.

The loves of Darrel’s life include God, his wife, family, and all other relatives and great friends.  He is survived by his children, Teresa (Dan) Thiele and Kristi (Frank) McDermott; grandchildren, Morgan and Lauren Thiele and Brynn McDermott; and sister, Sharon (Rick) Skinner.  He also leaves behind extended family.

Darrel was preceded in death by his son, Mark Alberts; his parents; and his sister, Carol Cooper.

Visitation will be held at EASTSIDE LUTHERAN CHURCH, 2310 Independence Lane, Madison from 9:30 A.M. until 11:30 A.M. on Saturday, July 24, 2021 with funeral service at 11:30 A.M.  A luncheon at the church will follow the service.  Memorials may be made to Eastside Lutheran Church or Lakeside Lutheran High School.

Among Darrel’s last words were “Jesus has it covered.”
