Darrell Blank

SUN PRAIRIE— Darrell T. Blank, age 85, passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2020.

Darrell attended a one-room school in Sauk County, WI.  He graduated from Reedsburg High School in 1952 and Madison Business College in 1954.  Then, Darrell went into the Army for two years, serving 18 months in Germany.  After his discharge, he took a job as the accountant for Gardner Baking Co. in Madison.  This is where he met Lorraine Boese who was working in the office.  They were married in 1957, and they purchased a home in Madison.  They went on to live in that same home until October 1, 2001 when they moved to the Oakwood Community.   In 1965, Darrell left Gardner’s to work for the State of Wisconsin in Data processing.  After 25 years with the Dept of Administration and Health and Social Services, Darrell retired.

Throughout the years, Darrell and Lorraine enjoyed traveling having visited every single state in the United States along with various countries including Canada, British Isles, Scandanavia, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, the Holy Land, Egypt, India, and the Caribbean.

Survived by wife Lorraine; children David (Katherine) and Ruth (Dan) Rinehart; and grandchildren Margaret “Carly” Blank, Matthew Blank, Christine Rinehart, Jessica Rinehart, and Sophia Hanson-Rinehart.  He is further survived by his sisters Gloria Ryan and Jeanette Yanke.  Preceded in death by his parents Theodore and Margaret and his godson Daniel Yanke.

A funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 734 Holy Cross Way, Madison, WI 53704.  Visitation will be Saturday at the church from 10:00 am – 11:00 am.  Burial will take place at Highland Memory Gardens in Cottage Grove.
