Darrell Pomeranke

Waunakee- Darrell K. Pomeranke, age 80, passed away on Sunday, January 8, 2012 at UW Hospital due to complications of Alzheimer's disease. He was born on April 9, 1931 in Arlington the son of Edward & Rozella (Thompson) Pomeranke. Darrell was united in marriage with Janice Bollig on August 6, 1957. He was a longtime resident of Waunakee. Darrell served his country with the U.S. Army in the Korean War and this last summer was honored at the Wisconsin Korean War Memorial, Plover, WI for his service. He was employed for over 38 years with Webcrafters, Madison retiring as a supervisor. Darrell was a quiet, dignified man who provided for his family first and then would fit in the "occasional" golf game. He is survived by his wife, Janice, Waunakee; his three children, John (Gail) Pomeranke and Julie (Mark) Trotter both of Waunakee and Jean (Perry) Cook, Stevens Point; nine grandchildren; brothers, Donald(Betty) Pomeranke, Dane and Gary Pomeranke, Baraboo; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Darrell was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Marlene Schmidt. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 209 South St., Waunakee. Visitation times will be Tuesday, January 10, 2011 from 4-7:00 p.m. at the Winn-Cress Funeral Home, Waunakee and at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Military rites honoring Darrell's service to his country will be conducted by the Waunakee Area Veterans.
