Sun Prairie - David J. Armstrong, age 66, went to be with the Lord on Monday, November 30, 2015 in the arms of his loving family, following a seven year battle with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. He was born on December 16, 1948 in Fort Atkinson, WI, the son of Daryl and Alice (Graper) Armstrong.
David was raised and attended high school in Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin. He then continued on to UW-Whitewater and then to Brown Institute in Minneapolis, Minnesota. David retired this past January, after over 45 years in broadcasting. He was an active member of Rotary, the Chamber of Commerce and the Methodist Churches he attended. He had a passion for corvettes and loved being part of and past president of Mad City Vettes. In addition, he was an avid sports fan, especially his Wisconsin Badgers. On April 11, 1970, David married the love of his life, Lesley Hintz and they raised two daughters, Amy and Ali. The two loved traveling together, going to their grandchildren's events and playing with their two favorite granddogs, Ruby and Lucy. David was raised in a family with strong values and traditions, which have been passed through the generations. He especially, enjoyed his time with his sisters and brother, whom have remained exceptionally close over the years.
David is survived by his wife of 45 years; Lesley, two daughters; Amy (Mike) Brown and Ali Armstrong, three grandchildren; Austin (Sarah) Brown and Reagan and Carson Brown, his mother; Alice Armstrong, three siblings; Dan (Cyndi) Armstrong, Deb (Rob) Vos and Dori (Mike) Liller, and six nieces and nephews; Jake (Kim) Armstrong, Matt Armstrong, Raleigh Vos, Abby Vos, Natalie Liller and Maggie Liller. He is also survived by many other loving family and friends. David was preceded in death by his father, Daryl Armstrong and many other wonderful family members.
A celebration of David's life will be held at SUN PRAIRIE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 702 North Street, Sun Prairie, Wisconsin 53590 on Saturday, December 12, 2015 at 11:00 am with Pastor Jenny Arneson and Pastor Frank Gaylord officiating. A visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 9:00 am until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in memory of David, to Sun Prairie United Methodist Church, 702 North Street, Sun Prairie, WI 53590 or to the Rainbow HospiceCare, 1225 Remmel Drive, Johnson Creek, WI 53094.
