Madison - David Paul Hannum passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 27, 2022, at the age of 71 from an unexpected illness.

Dave proudly served his country in the United States Army. He served in Vietnam and was Honorably Discharged.
After the service, Dave returned to Madison and briefly attended Edgewood College in Madison. He later was employed at the University of Wisconsin-Madison Department of Psychology Animal Research and then at Covance Laboratories, Madison, Wisconsin where he was a supervisor for his department.
On September 25th, 1977, he married the love of his life, Marlene Kundert. They established their home in Madison, Wisconsin, raising their sons, Troy and Jay.
Dave was preceded in death by his father, Arthur Hannum, his mother, Miriam (Kundert) Hannum, his stepsister, Linda Ringel, his father-in-law, Donald Kundert, and his brother-in-law, Mark Kundert.

Dave’s greatest joy was his family and his life revolved around them. They loved to go camping, fishing, hunting, ATV riding, and enjoyed traveling to different Wisconsin destinations. He particularly loved spending time at the Kundert farm in Darlington with his family, and being in the woods, outside in nature, and around animals. It gave him much joy and peace.
Dave was a wonderful husband, father, brother, and friend. He had a great sense of humor and will be loved and missed by all that knew him.
In lieu of a funeral, the family will have a private Celebration of Life later this summer.
A special thanks to the doctors and nurses at the VA Hospital for their care of Dave during his short illness.
