Stoughton- David W. Hermanson "Hermie", age 87, passed away on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at Skaalen Heritage Center. He was born in Stoughton on November 22, 1934, the son of Herman and Myrtle Hermanson.
Hermie graduated from Stoughton H.S. in 1953. He was drafted into the US Army and was stationed in France. Hermie returned to Stoughton to work at Nelson Industries as an Engineering Draftsman for several years before he was recruited by Oscar Mayer & Co. as a Computer Coordinator where he retired after 38 years. During his retirement he worked for Stark Automotive and Bumper to Bumper in Stoughton.
On July 31, 1960, Hermie married Audrey Lundeberg. Together they had many adventures vacationing in Northern WI and spending time with family and friends. Hermie, enjoyed his annual hunting and fishing trips and as an avid car enthusiast he attended many car shows throughout the Midwest. Hermie was a life member of First Lutheran Church where he taught Sunday school and Confirmation. He was a member of Ducks Unlimited and the Stoughton Conservation Club. Hermie really enjoyed socializing with everyone he met. He will always be remembered for his kind and selfless endeavors throughout his life.
Hermie is survived by three children, Karla (Mike) Maloney, Kevin (Kathie), and Kelly (Chuck) Sutton; eight grandchildren, Ryan (Kim) Hermanson, Kyle (Megan) Hermanson, Taylor (B.J.) Weir, Kody, Katriel and Karson Sutton, Collin and Liam Maloney; two great grandsons, Lincoln and Jax; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 50 years, Audrey; great grandson, Blake; and siblings, Howard, Mae Benisch, and Gene Hermanson.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 11, 2022 at First Lutheran Church, 310 E. Washington Street, Stoughton, with Rev. Richard Halom officiating. Friends and relatives are invited to a luncheon, immediately following, at the Stoughton VFW. Private burial will take place in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of services at church on Saturday.
