David Moes

Clyde, CA/Cottage Grove, WI- David A. Moes, age 42, passed away in Clyde, CA on Friday, August 3, 2012. He was born on November 2, 1969 in Frankfurt, Germany, the son of Stephen and Mary "Kathy" (Pusateri) Moes, while his father was stationed there with the U.S. Army. David graduated from Deerfield High School in 1988. He lived in Madison for several years and rebuilt a 1980 Sunbird with his great friend Terry Webb. After years of tinkering and his love affair with cars, David received an Auto Technician Degree from MATC. In 1994 he followed his new love, Carmel Piper, to California where they built a life together with many friends, including Norm, Rodney and Jeff. David worked at Rossmoor Retirement Community as an automotive maintenance technician for 14 years. In his free time he enjoyed being the crew chief for his best friend Norm's drag racing team. They won a trophy in 1999 with a 1966 Ford Mustang. David was an avid Sharks hockey and San Francisco Giants baseball fan. At home he enjoyed gardening, BBQing, working on his motorcycles and cars, and reading. David is survived by his mother, Kathy Pusateri of Madison; his father, Stephen (Vicki Grether) Moes of Dubuque, IA; step father, Keith Steffen of Monona; sister, Christina (Matthew) Legris and their children, Aurora and Avery; sister, Carrie Steffen and her son Trent; girlfriend of 18 years, Carmel Piper and their cats, Sylvester, Yosemite and Marvin; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Edward and Patricia Moes; and maternal grandparents, Gus and Agnes Pusateri. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM with a Celebration of David's Life starting at 3:00 PM on Thursday, August 16, 2012 at Cress Funeral Home, 5801 Highway 51, McFarland. Friends and relatives are invited to a luncheon following the services at Christ the King Catholic Church fellowship hall, 5306 Main Street, McFarland.
