David Mulder

April 20, 1930 — January 24, 2013

Stoughton - David J. Mulder, age 82 passed away Thursday, January 24, 2013 at his home. He was born April 20, 1930 (Easter Sunday) in the Town of Lima, Sheboygan Co. the son of the late, James and Mary (Carmen) Mulder.

Upon graduating from Plymouth High School he and two buddies decided to work their way to the West Coast, stacking hay, threshing, shocking grain, picking potatoes and beets. When they reached the coast they figured they better get back as the draft had started. Upon returning home, David entered the Navy. After serving two tours of duty, David began working for Bark River Culvert & Equip., followed by several contractors in the Madison area and retired from Miller Bradford & Risberg in1995 as Service Manager.

In retirement he enjoyed wood working projects for family and friends and traveling both near and far and was known to frequent a casino now and then

He is survived by this wife Winifred whom he married August 16, 1952 celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary in Australia in 2002, and this past August, celebrated their 60th. Also surviving him is a son Dale (Kay Thompson), Stoughton; and two daughters, Tracey (Danny) Gallagher, Stoughton and Terri Mulder, Madison; eight grandchildren: Heather (Jason) Krantz, Cross Plains, Jeremy (Melissa) Mulder and Jesse Mulder, Dodgeville, Kurt (Erica) Mulder, Gilbert AZ, and Chad Gallagher, Stoughton, Nicole Gallagher, Deerfield, Jason Mezera, Hartford and Beth Thomure, Sun Prairie; and almost 7 great-grandchildren. He is further survived by two brothers, Wesley (Leona), Sun Prairie and Charles (Judy), Delavan; three sisters, Lucille Larson, Plymouth, Edith Orlenko, Sheboygan and Janet (David ) Walvoord, Oostburg; a sister-in-law, Cora Shinnick, Fitchburg; also many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers-in-law, Arden Larson, John Orlenko and M. Grant Shinnick; sister Ellen, and nephew, Russell Mulder.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 28, 2013 at Cress Funeral Home, 206 W. Prospect Ave. Stoughton with Pastor Richard Hallom officiating. Family will greet friends from 9 a.m. until the time of service. A luncheon will follow at the Stoughton VFW Post 328, 200 Veterans Rd. Burial with military honors will be at 2 p.m. in Highland Memory Gardens, 3054 Hwy BB, Cottage Grove.
