David Mccarthy

Sun Prairie – David N. McCarthy, age 56, passed away by taking his own life on May 7, 2022.  He was born on February 17, 1966, in Madison, the son of Gerald and Linda (Anderson) McCarthy.  David grew up on the north side of Madison and graduated from East High School and soon after joined the Army. David married Nancy McCarthy (Yelk) and had three beautiful children.

David enjoyed playing hockey and was an avid hunter and fisherman. If you needed advice on anything outdoors, David was your go to guy but not without hearing one of his many stories first. Aside from hunting and fishing, David enjoyed spending time with his children and especially adored his grandson, Weston. David was a great mechanic and knew many things about cars. David was employed at Trachte Building Systems as a CNC Machinist and was proud of his trade.

David was known for his smart remarks and sometimes, really dirty jokes. David was a kind soul, a great father, son, friend, papa and brother and will be missed far beyond what words could begin to explain.

David is survived by his children, Christopher McCarthy (Katie Fitzpatrick), Justin McCarthy, Brittany Hulme (Cody Hulme), grandson, Weston Hulme and many other family and friends. David is proceeded in death by his mother, Linda Topper(Anderson), father, Gerald McCarthy and brothers, Danny McCarthy and Dennis McCarthy.

David’s family would like everyone to be more aware of those around you and for the signs of depression. Mental health is a scary thing and in a blink of an eye a life can be taken. Be supportive, be aware and most importantly don’t be afraid to ask for help if you are feeling depressed or down.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday May 16, 2022, at Lakeview Lutheran Church, 4001 Mandrake Rd., Madison, Wisconsin, with Pastor Robb Kosky presiding.  Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the time of service. A private burial with immediate family will be done in the following weeks.
