David Pedersen

McFarland - David Pedersen, age 69, passed away on Saturday, March 26, 2016 at his home, after a 11 month battle with malignant mesothelioma.

David was the son of Dorothy and Harvey Pedersen (both deceased) and sister to Karen Roholt (David). David was united in marriage to Jone Sahr on July 2, 1971. They enjoyed their life together and had two sons, Eric (McFarland) and Karl (Mesa, Arizona).

David graduated from Eau Claire Memorial High School in 1965. He continued his education at UW - Eau Claire and graduated in 1969 with a degree in Elementary Education and began his teaching career in Lake Mills, Wisconsin. In 1972 he was fortunate to obtain a teaching position in McFarland, where he built a home. David received his Master's Degree in teaching and continued to work for the McFarland School District until his retirement in 2006.

Dave was passionate about teaching and began working with computer technology. He saw computers as a very powerful tool that could be integrated into the schools curriculum. He was McFarland School District's first information Technology Director and helped organize a K-12 curriculum plan for instructing students on computer skills. He realized computers generated classroom enthusiasm and worked tirelessly to keep McFarland Schools in front of the computer revolution.

Dave enjoyed fishing, sports, and playing cards with a close group of teachers. Dave lived his life with kindness and humility, making him a great example for his sons and the students he mentored.

The Pedersen family wishes to extend their thanks to their caring neighbors, retired McFarland teachers, and relatives, who generously spent time with Dave during his illness. The family would also like to thank the staff at Meriter, Heartland Hospice, Dr. David Hei, and Dr. Compton Kurtz.

In lieu of flowers, any memorial donations will be used for a scholarship fund to aid a youth who has committed to majoring in the IT-field.

All friends are invited to Dave's Celebration of Life from 2 P.M. to 5 P.M. on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at the 5100 Club, 5100 Erling Ave, McFarland.
