DEERFIELD - David A. Prosa, age 67, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 27, 2011 at Middleton Village Nursing Center.
David was born on Aug. 2, 1944 in Madison to Lee and Ruth (Knutson) Prosa. He graduated from Deerfield High School class of '62 and married Gloria Christianson on Aug. 22, 1964. He briefly studied music at Bemidji State University before taking over the family farm after the passing of his father. Three years of farming were followed by a number of jobs ending with 32 years of service to the UW parking department. Unfortunately, David's retirement was filled with a number of health setbacks which limited his freedom to enjoy his final years. He bravely fought to the end.
During his life, David was known for his quick wit and storytelling. Although he did not relish being the center of attention, he gave of himself freely volunteering to cook at various events, took care of others who were in need of friendship, transportation and care, and had great insights to share one-on-one. He seemed to know where to stick the shovel to get to the heart of the matter. Everyone knew he enjoyed playing cards, playing the organ, and living and dying with the Packers, but few knew that he wrote poetry and enjoyed landscape photography. We can only hope that he will be cared for in the afterlife as he cared for others during his.
David is survived by his wife, Gloria; children, Ty (Julie Seiler) Prosa of Madison, and Troy (Brenda) Prosa of Minneapolis, MN; brother Richard Prosa of Deerfield; sister Lorraine (Donald) Zuelke of Bemidji, MN; and granddaughters, Avlin and Maren Prosa.
In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his siblings Robert, Bernard (Joyce), and Lowell (Fern) Prosa.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 1, 2011 at 11:30am at Deerfield Lutheran Church, 206 Main St, with the Rev. Larry Sexe officiating. Visitation will take place at church on Tuesday from 9:30 am until the time of service. A lunch at church will follow services.
