David “Dave” Rennhack was born on August 20, 1944, to Elverna A. (Straseski) and Frederick G. Rennhack. A proud graduate of Columbus High School, Class of 1962, Dave enlisted in the U.S. Navy shortly after graduation and served honorably until 1968. In 1976, he continued his service to the nation by joining the National Guard, where he found his passion in the 1-147 Aviation Helicopter Unit. Over a distinguished career marked by exceptional leadership and dedication, Dave rose to the rank of Command Sergeant Major, retiring in April 1998.
On August 16, 1996, Dave, married the love of his life, Rebecca Ranum, in Dodgeville, Wisconsin. Their marriage, rooted in deep friendship and mutual respect, was filled with love and laughter for over 28 years.
Dave embraced life’s simple joys—mowing the lawn, caring for his John Deere equipment, cruising in his Corvette, and enjoying a cold Pepsi. Known for his sharp wit and big heart, he loved spending time with his family, friends, and his cherished cats. He was especially proud of having “quit smoking hundreds of times” and never missed a chance to take part in—or simply enjoy—a good parade.
Dave is survived by his loving wife, Rebecca Ranum Rennhack; his children, Lisa (Todd) Birkrem, Kimberly Rennhack, Jacquelyn (Troy) Frank, and Samantha (Tim) Kershner; and grandchildren Mallory, Taylor (Parker), Mackenzie (Peter), Trey (Allison), Mason, Andrew (Jen), Zachary (Brooke), Brayden, Bradley, Emmalyn, Lillian, Ethan and Grayson. He is also survived by his sisters, Pat (Robert) Boness and Pamela (Richard) Schoen, along with his in-law family, and extended family, including brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Dennis Rennhack, and his father-in-law, Wm Ranum.
