David Tausig

Sun Prairie - David "Dave" Tausig, Age 62, died early Monday morning, March 18, 2013 at home after a long and hard fought battle with cancer. He was born on November 3, 1950 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Martin and Trude (Freund) Tausig. Dave married his best friend, Jeanne (Sanden) on April 12, 1976 in Las Vegas, NV. After marrying, they moved to Indiana and lived there for a few years before Wisconsin called them back. Together, Dave and Jeanne ran several businesses in Baraboo. In 1989 they moved to De Forest for a change in Dave's career. He worked in several hotels in Madison as Chief Engineer before becoming the Corporate Engineer for a large hospitality group. One of his favorite parts of that job was traveling and opening new hotels all over the US. Dave and Jeanne moved to McFarland for 8 years before moving to Sun Prairie. Dave enjoyed tinkering with small engines, snow blowers and lawn mowers. Traveling, which included trips to Ireland, Paris, Holland, several Caribbean Islands and a yearly trip to Prescott, AZ, to volunteer at the Hopi Rug Auction. Dave also enjoyed giving back to the community by giving blood and volunteering at local food pantries.

Dave is survived by his wife of 36 years, Jeanne of Sun Prairie; son, Michael (Carri) Sanden of West Bend, WI; daughter, Sarah (Scott) Landphier of Rio, WI; 4 wonderful grandchildren, Skylar Marie Towns, Mikayla Jo Sanden, Brayden Allen Sanden and Jackson David Landphier; brother, Mark (Betty) Tausig of Akron, OH; nephew, Ben (Serena) Tausig of New York, NY; great nephew, Julius Tausig; two great friends and travel companions, Neal (Linda) Schortinghuis of Prescott, AZ and his beloved Dogs, Loki and Issa.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Trude Tausig, brother, Allen Tausig, sister, Ruth Tausig, his "Out-Laws", Gordy and Helen Sanden.

A funeral service will be held at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 1310 Emerald Terrace, Sun Prairie, on Saturday, March 23, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.

Dave's family would like to thank the staff of UW Health, De Forest including Dr. David Ringdahl. The staff of 1 South Park, UW Carbone Cancer Center including Dr. David Hei. And the Pharmacy staff at Walmart, Sun Prairie.
