Stoughton- David William Tweet 72, passed away on June 16th after being diagnosed with an aggressive type of brain cancer on June 1st. It was an incredible shock to all who loved David.
David was born in Hudson WI on 4-27-52 to Dr. Peter A. Tweet and LaVerne E. Tweet. He joined his older siblings Tonita and Gary. David's childhood was filled with summer RV trips with his family, swimming in Perch Lake, canoe trips on the St.Croix, the ski team, and frequent visits to the Dairy Mart.
After graduation from Hudson HS in 1970 David attended UW-EC graduating with a bachelors in Psychology/Sociology.
Summer of 73 David traveled throughout Europe in a Volkswagen van with his Mom, Dad, and brother Gary.
This is Jane, David's wife. I have the privilege of telling you about our life together. David and I met at UW-EC in August 1973 after he returned from Europe. Our first date was the MN State Fair with his parents. Continuing a long standing tradition for the Tweet Family.
We married in 1978. David worked for the EC County Welfare Dept. On our first anniversary we moved to Albuquerque. David managed Mail and Parcel Express.
In 1981 we moved to MN. There David worked for CPT and RJ Reynolds.
In 1990 we moved to Hudson FL. David's love of golf grew as he could play year round. He became a member of the USGTA. In 2000 we moved back to Wisconsin settling in Stoughton. David began work on our now 140 year old home. He touched every square inch of our home inside and out. If David didn't know how to do something, he learned.
Back in Wisconsin David got back into motorcycles. We made many summer trips on our Honda Gold Wing to the West and East Coasts, and throughout Canada; Glacier National Park, Banff, Quebec, and Nova Scotia.
Our extended Tweet family includes: sister Tonita Tweet(Michael Pennell); brother Gary Tweet (Susan); nieces Dr. Marit Tweet (Erika), Amy Kampen (Steve Clemmer), Kristina Waters (Tim); nephews Peter Kampen, Andrew Kampen (Cole); great nieces Katherine Clemmer, Elena Waters, Clara Kampen, Eleanor Kampen; great nephews David Clemmer, Nathan Waters, Simon Kampen.
David was kind, compassionate, loving, humble, with an inquisitive mind. He was my best friend, my partner, my soft place to land during hard times. I'm so grateful we fell in love 50 years ago.
David's passing has left a hole in our hearts that can only be filled with memories.
We will share memories with family and friends at David's Celebration of Life, which will be held at a later date.
David was a devoted animal lover. Donations in his memory to your favorite animal rescue would be appreciated.
Please share your memories of David by posting in his Guestbook.
