David L. Wilkinson

Deerfield – David Lee Wilkinson, age 79, passed away on January 27, 2025. He was born on September 9, 1945 in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, the son of Melvin and Violet (Borchardt) Wilkinson. He married Diane Gloria Voss on September 11, 1965 in Brandon, Wisconsin.

Dave proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War from 1965 through 1967. He worked 44 years at EcoLab in many different positions. Dave was a member of the Lion’s Club International, achieving the highest honor of the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award. He was also a Village Board Member, 1996 Deerfield Citizen of the Year, and also served as the St. Paul’s Liberty Lutheran Church President twice. In 1974 Dave and other community members started the Little League program. He would go on to coach the Deerfield High School Baseball Team from 1984 – 1987. Dave was a huge sports fan, especially watching his beloved Brewers, Badgers, and Packers.

He is survived by his wife Diane; son’s, Daniel (Kay) and Donald (Susan); grandchildren, Jacob, Kyle, Timothy (Stephanie), Benjamin and Erin; sister, Kay Sheppard (Steve). He is also survived by his niece and nephew, Kathryn Wolstenholme and Steven Bihss and many friends he leaves behind.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 15, 2025 at St. Paul’s Liberty Lutheran Church, 3494 Oak Park Rd., Deerfield. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 14, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the St. Paul’s Liberty Lutheran Education Center, and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. David will be laid to rest at St. Paul’s Liberty Lutheran Cemetery. A reception will follow the services at the Church Education Center.
