Dean A. Ruid, 92 of Madison passed away Sunday April 2nd. He was born in Exeland, Wisconsin, November 16, 1924. He served in World War II with the 1471 Engineers Maintenance Company in France and Germany until he was injured in the Saint-Valery-en-Caux train accident January 17, 1945. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with BS degrees in Math and Physics. He retired from the State of Wisconsin as The Chief of Systems for the Department of Industry, Labor and Human Relations. He is survived by his wife of nearly 70 years, Ruth (Davis).
He is also survived by his son Allen, his daughter-in-law Barbara
(Voss-Ruid) and twin granddaughters Tessa and Madeline. Dean was a lifelong cross country skier and runner and enjoying bird watching, especially participating in the annual Crane Count. He will be remembered for his generosity, his lifelong love of learning, his passion for nature and conservation and for being an intense Packer and Badger Fan. He also loved the holidays and drawing meticulous holiday cards for his granddaughters. Memorial services are pending.
