Del F. Krom

September 17, 1918 — March 7, 2009

MADISON- Del F. Krom died on March 7, 2008, at Oakwood Village Meadows in Madison. She was born in 1918, in Milwaukee, to Mary and David Fishman. She attended the Milwaukee College of Business and the Layton School of Art and Design. Del is survived by her son Larry Krom (Shelly Laffin) of Spring Green and two brothers, Max Fishman (Joan) and Marvin Fishman (Janet), both of Milwaukee. She was preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband, Donald C. Krom. Del was a prolific artist concentrating her work on the watercolor medium. She belonged to both the Milwaukee and Madison Art Guilds, winning numerous awards for her watercolors. She also enjoyed creating humorous found-art assemblages that would always provoke a smile. As a docent at the Madison Art Center, she gave especially entertaining explanations of art exhibits to numerous school tours. Del enjoyed her retirement years in the beauty of Spring Green and later in Madison, after spending most of her life in Milwaukee. Del was a very caring person and was never a stranger very long to those who met her, no matter the age or species. Del is also survived by the Krom family, Jeanne (Bob) Zarne of Milwaukee, Harold (Frieda) Krom of Dallas, Texas, and David Krom of Boerne, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews. A private memorial service for family and friends will be held at 10:30 am, Thursday, March 12, at Cress Funeral Home, 3610 Speedway Road, Madison. Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Madison. The family wishes to thank the staff of Oakwood Village and HospiceCare for their kindness and care of Del. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the charity of your choice.
