Delbert E. Anderson

Delbert Anderson, age 96, passed away on Monday, June 21, 2010.   He was born on May 8, 1914 in Morrisonville, WI, the son of Martin and Alice (Fernelius) Anderson.   Delbert served in the United States Army in the South Pacific during World War II.   He previously worked at the Gisholt Machine Company, the City County Building Mail Room and as a bus driver for the McFarland and Stoughton School Districts.   Delbert married Agnes Greene on October 20, 1945 at the United Methodist Church in Stoughton and they enjoyed 58 wonderful years together.   She preceded him in death on June 4, 2004.   Delbert delivered Meals on Wheels in the Stoughton area for over 25 years.   He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Stoughton and the American Legion.   Delbert was a cheerful, kind and thoughtful person who always saw the best in others.   He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.   Delbert loved nature and raised monarch butterflies for many years.   His golden retriever Madison was always by his side.   He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends and participating in lunch and activities at the Stoughton Senior Center.   Delbert is survived by his daughter Patricia (Mark) Mulholland of Clinton Township, Mich.; granddaughter, Sonja (Sean) Eames of Madison, Alabama; great-grandsons Jason, Jackson and Tyler Eames; brother-in-law Lorraine Meek and many nieces and nephews.   He was preceded in death by his wife Agnes, his parents, his brothers Irvin, Chester and William Anderson and his sisters Fern Chaney, Leona Burkett and Elinor Meek.   Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 26 at 11:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church, 525 Lincoln Ave., Stoughton, with the Reverend Lamar Gibson officiating.   Burial with military honors will be held at the Roselawn Memorial Park in Monona.   Family and friends may call on Friday, June 25 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home, and again at church on Saturday from 10:00 am until the time of service.   In celebration of Delbert's long life of giving to others and service to his family, friends and community, and country memorials may be made in his memory to the Stoughton Senior Center.
