Delbert J. Littel

April 4, 1931 — December 14, 2008

Delbert Littel, age 77, passed away on December 14, 2008.   He was born April 4, 1931, the son of the late Anton Littel and Olive (Kalscheur).   Following his graduation from Edgewood High School in 1950, he served as medic in the army in Germany during the Korean conflict.   Over the years he worked at Welch Plumbing, Edgewood High School, and the Village Bar.   He loved playing sports in his younger years.   He also enjoyed watching football and baseball and playing cards. For years he played and coached recreation basketball and softball for the Village Bar and the Hide-A-Way. In 1953, he married Joan Treptow and they had seven children.   Del is survived by Kim Littel of Viroqua, Mike (Cyndi) of Madison, Nancy (Peter) Tews of Dodgeville, Barb (Dan) Paltz of Madison, Todd (Kris) of Brooklyn Park, MN, Randy (Renee) of Mount Horeb and Lori (John) Kennedy of Evergreen Park, IL; 15 grandchildren, Amanda and Mikayla Littel, Jacob (Leith), David, Lauren and John Tews, William and Andrew Paltz, Joshua Littel and Ashley (Nathan) McGree, Kylie and Keaton Littel, and Sydney, Patrick and Samuel Kennedy; two brothers, Russell (Bunny) and Tony (Bea) of Madison and his ex-wife, Joan   Littel of Middleton,   Del was preceded in death by his parents and his granddaughter, Kara Leah Littel.   Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 18 at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church from 9:30-11 am with a funeral mass following at 11:00 am. The family will be served by the Cress Funeral Home.   In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Edgewood High School. 2219 Monroe St. Madison, WI 53711
