Delbert A. Weum

July 15, 1935 — August 29, 2010

Delbert A. Weum, age 75, passed away on Sunday, August 29, 2010 at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison, surrounded by his family.   He was born in Stoughton on July 15, 1935, a son of Lefferd and Ethel (Loftus) Weum.   Delbert served his country in the Air National Guard.   Delbert married Nancy M. Hoel on May 2, 1959.   They divorced, and she preceded him in death in 2001.   On January 2, 1983, he was married to Faith Ann Whitford, who preceded him in death in May of 1991.   On December 6, 1991, Delbert was united in marriage to Susan Swain.   Delbert worked for 43 years at Jones Dairy Farm in addition to farming.   He retired in 2000.   He is remembered as a kind, gentle, and loving father, husband, grandfather and friend, doting on his grandchildren.   He loved the land, and was a strong faith-based person, active as a member of Christ Lutheran Church in many activities, including Ole and Lena skits and Dart Ball.   He was also active as an RSVP driver, in Young at Hearts, and in Community Theater.   He is survived by his wife, Sue; children, Ronald (Kim) Weum, Kristen (Daryll) Lund, Douglas (Eileen) Weum, Gary (Ellen) Weum, Karilynn Weum Ziebell; Suzette (Mike) Meyers, and Emily (Sal) Gutierrez; 19 grandchildren; 2 sisters, Bonnie (Robert) Emrick and Nancy ( Wayne) Schroeder; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.   Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 2, 2010 at 11:00 am at Christ Lutheran Church, 700 County Hwy B, Stoughton with the Rev. Paula Geister-Jones officiating.   A private burial will follow at Rockdale Lutheran Cemetery at a later date.   The family will greet friends on Wednesday, September 1, 2010 from 4:00pm until 7:00 pm at the Olson-Holzhuter-Cress Funeral Home in Stoughton, and again at church on Thursday from 10:00 am until the time of service.   Special thanks to the staff at St. Mary's Hospital.   Memorials may be made to Christ Lutheran Church, or to the Koshkonong Prairie Historical Society.
