Delia Lang

April 15, 1938 — December 25, 2018

MADISON-The family of Delia Ida Lang is saddened to tell of her death in the morning of Christmas day, December 25, 2018 after a brief, but fierce battle with heart stroke which we actively joined in.

Delia was born April 15 1938, in Goshen, Indiana to Gustav K.W. and Sophia Elizabeth Lang and brought by them in November of that year to Madison where she lived all of her life. She attended Nichols and Marquette Elementary schools and East High School from which she graduated in June of 1957. Delia
then worked in the city until her retirement.

She was a remarkably beautiful child, but we suspect autistic. She became a good pianist and dancer at Leo Kehl, but then gave up this artistry as an adult while diligently working at Rennebohm stores and finally, Crown Plaza Hotel by East Towne. She became quite isolated, even from her St John's Lutheran church, but seemed content with her hobbies including watching classic 50's and 60's movies and the lives of their actors, and collecting a now enormous array of miniatures of animals and dolls, real and fantastical, including many ballerina figures.

Although she could not sustain relationships, most who met her were captivated by her childlike nature.

She is survived by two siblings, Karl and Stella Lang in Madison and a niece, DVM Cynthia and John Bianchini in Philadelphia.

We think of and pray for her in the words of balladeer, Donovan, "I was born this time with the name Delia with hair coal black as a raven. I traveled my life without a care, ah, but all of my love I was savin'"

A remembrance and ascension service will be May 15 , place and hours pending. Contact Karl at 608-244-6555 or email KarlLang2@gmail.com.
