MADISON
Delphine Theresa ""Del"" Parker (nee Komassa), age 78, passed away on Sunday, April 25, 2010, with family by her side. Del was born November 23, 1931 in Milwaukee and moved to Madison in 1965. While living in Milwaukee, Del was employed as a School Secretary for the Milwaukee Board of Education for five years, and for one year for the State of Wisconsin, Division of Corrections as secretary to Juvenile Parole Agents. Her move to Madison was due to her husband entering the University of Wisconsin Law School. In Madison she continued work as Membership Secretary at the University of Wisconsin Memorial Union for three years and then spent the remainder of her work years at the UW-Hospital and Clinics in the Department of Human Oncology, Radiation Oncology Division as Administrative Assistant to the Division Director, where she retired in January of 1997, after 29 years of service. Her Department was designated as a Comprehensive Cancer Center in 1985 by the United States government's war on cancer. After retirement she became a member of the UW-Madison Retirement Association.
She is survived by her son, William (Lisa) Parker of Beloit; grandmother of Jacob, Jonathan and Cassandra Parker; great-grandmother of Damien Parker. She is further survived by her sister, Rita (late Arthur) Koester; brothers, David (Carol) Komassa and Gary (Tina) Komassa; nieces, nephews; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Marian (Serdynski) Komassa; and beloved husband, James.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the St. Thomas Aquinas Memorial Building Fund.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 am on Friday, April 30, 2010 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 602 Everglade Drive, Madison with Msgr. Donn Heiar presiding. Family will greet friends, at church, from 10 am until the time of service. Inurnment will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Madison. Â
