Dennis James Hilgendorf

Madison--Dennis James Hilgendorf, age 53, died accidentally on Friday, August 1, 2008. He was born on November 23, 1954 the son of Donald and Darlene (Eckstein) Hilgendorf. He was raised on Madison's north side attending Madison East High School. On June 28, 1980 Dennis was united in marriage to Donna Holm. He was employed by the State of Wisconsin Department of Health and Family Services as a Shipping and Mailing Associate. Dennis was nicknamed, ""Scrap Master' because of his most enjoyable hobby, metal scrapping. He also enjoyed cars of all sorts, including new and vintage, spending time with friends and family, fishing, and visiting Ho-Chunk Casino. You seldom saw him without his favorite drink in his hand, RC Cola. Dennis is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Donna; mother, Darlene of Sun Prairie; sisters, Deb (Brian) Moyer of Reedsburg, and Donna (Chris) Schubring of Cross Plains; brothers, Mark of Sun Prairie, Dean (Patti) of Ohio, Dale (Sandy) of Madison, and Mike (Jane) of Madison; mother and father-in-law, Roy T. and Katherine Holm; sisters-in-laws, Debra Holm and Diane (Rich) Seim all from Madison; eleven very special nieces and nephews; and many wonderful friends. The family extends a special thank you to Ray and Cheryl, Gary and Karen, Kevin, Aunt Betsy and Uncle Dave. He was preceded in death by his father, Donald. Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Thursday, August 7, 2008 at Cress Funeral Home, 3325 East Washington, Madison with the Rev. Roger D. Nilles officiating. Burial will be at Roselawn Cemetery, Monona. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 pm until 7 pm on Wednesday, August 6, 2008 and on Thursday from 10 am until the time of service. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, please follow Dennis' example and do something for that special person in your life.
