Dennis A. Strandlie

Stoughton- Dennis A. Strandlie ""Big D"", age 61, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 21, 2010 due to a brief illness.   He was born in Stoughton on September 19, 1948, the son of Lawrence and Myrtle (Leikness) Strandlie.   Big D attended Stoughton High School.   On September 28, 1968 he married Carol Dahl.   Big D was currently employed by D.R.S. Ltd. Asphalt Company as a truck driver and Hannerville Acres as farm help.   He enjoyed truck and tractor pulls, horseshoes, telling a good ""story"", and spending time with his family especially his grandkids and his faithful canine companion Molly.   Big D is survived by his wife, Carol; five children, Lynda (Rich) Smithback, Jon (Kristin), Diane (Jason) Kellnhofer, Michelle (Larry) Nelson and Greg Strandlie; grandchildren, Hailee and Evey Kellnhofer and Gage and Gunder Nelson; siblings, Lawrence ""Sonny"" (Phyllis) Strandlie Jr. and Beverly (Dave) Stronach; sister-in-law, Joan; and relatives and friends.   He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Curtis.   Memorial services will be held at 1:30 PM on Sunday, May 2, 2010 at Christ Lutheran Church, 700 County Road B, Stoughton, with Rev. Scott Geister-Jones officiating.   A memorial gathering will be held from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM on Saturday, May 1, 2010 at Olson-Holzhuter-Cress Funeral Home in Stoughton.   A special thank you to Stoughton Hospital and to the staff of St. Mary's Hospital, especially Dr. John Wilson.
