MADISON - Dennis Allen Verstegen, age 74, passed away on Tuesday, May 6, 2014. Dennis was born on August 20, 1939, in Combined Locks, Wis., and received a BS in Engineering and Industrial Management from GMI Engineering and Management Institute in Flint, Michigan. He worked as a mechanical engineer for Oldsmobile, Marathon Paper and designed parts for the NASA Gemini Program as well as serving as a technical representative for the US Army Aviation Systems command in Southeast Asia for Aeroquip. Dennis contributed numerous patents during his professional career. Following this, he moved into project management and manufacturing consulting, first serving as a member of a think tank for the Olin Corporation creating innovative technology solutions. The Continuous Performance Management System he invented was used to assist the Rayovac Corporation, the Kohler Corporation, Columbia Parcar Corporation, and Case New Holland. He started his own consulting firm, Verstegen+Associates, in June 1976.
Dennis is survived by his loving wife, Janice Elaine Lyman Verstegen; his daughter, Britt Elizabeth Verstegen; his son, Ian Ferguson Verstegen; his step-son, Douglas Edward Pottinger; step-son Andrew James Pottinger; step-daughter Sherrill Lee Pottinger Arnold; eleven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A memorial is planned in June.
