MADISON—Dennis “Denny” D. Trinrud, age 70, passed away surrounded by his family on Saturday, January 9, 2021 after a long, hard-fought battle with MS.
Denny served in the US Air Force for four years following high school, and he went on to serve with the US National Guard for another 25 years. Because of his long-standing commitment to the service and success even through his disability, Denny was elected as the Department of Defense Outstanding Employee with a Disability for the Year of 1997.
Denny lived and breathed Wisconsin sports! He played sports in his younger years, and he never gave up on his Green Bay Packers. Denny and his brother, Donn, were fortunate to attend many Badger games throughout his life. Denny was also a golf enthusiast, and he golfed until he was no longer physically able to.
Denny is survived by his wife of 48 years Joan. It is with Joan’s experience as a nurse and her dedication to her husband that Denny was able to thrive throughout his illness.
He is further survived by his stepson Bill (Angela) Breitenstein; grandchildren August and Raina Trinrud; three step-grandchildren; great-granddaughters Scarlet and Maven Breitenstein; brother Donn (Patricia “Trish”) Trinrud, sister Debby (Jerry) Haberkorn, and many other nieces, nephews, and friends.
Denny was preceded in death by his parents Kermit and Gloria Trinrud; and two sons Gabriel Joseph and Garret Duane.
