Madson

Diane Anita Thorstad Price ended her 76-year journey on July 14, 2022 due to complications from having lived a full and meaningful life.  Diane was born to Clarence and Anita (Prinz) Thorstad on May 5, 1946 in Madison, WI.  She was blessed to grow up with 3 siblings, Ronald, Dawneen, and John, whom she loved unconditionally and with whom she maintained strong bonds throughout life.

Diane spent most of her life in Madison, graduating from West High School in 1964 and then from the University of Wisconsin - Madison.  Following her graduation from the UW, she went on to attend nursing school at York College in York, Pennsylvania, where she was the valedictorian of her class.  Diane loved learning new things throughout her whole life.

Diane worked as an emergency room nurse in Pennsylvania and taught for the American Red Cross at Altus Air Force Base in Oklahoma and at Madison Area Technical School in Madison, WI.

Diane married Steven Price in 1979 and together they raised 4 children - Jeffrey, Jeremy, Laura, and Eric.  Diane loved her family and enjoyed going on family ski trips, traveling, and playing games.  When her kids were young, she would always go the extra mile on holidays.  For example, she would use food coloring to make the milk green on St. Patrick’s Day and pink on Valentine's Day.  By far and away, her favorite holiday was Christmas.  She loved Christmas music, decorations, family gatherings, and the peace and happiness brought on by the celebration of the life of her Savior, Jesus Christ.  Diane never forgot her family members’ birthdays and always made sure we all remembered to wish one another happy birthday.  When it came to celebrating her birthday, Diane would often celebrate her birth week.

Throughout her adult life, Diane was actively involved in serving others.  She loved finding ways to bring smiles to sad faces, food to the hungry and hope to the hopeless.  She found many opportunities to serve through the various callings in which she served as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  She particularly loved her many years working in the Young Women’s program.  Diane also volunteered her time working with Thursday’s Child.

Diane took life in stride and tried to stay positive even when situations called for worry or doubt.  She once fell and broke her hip, but because she had tickets to a Badger football game, she went to the game first and then went to the ER where they confirmed she had broken her hip.  She was not one to be kept down and she is a Wisconsin Badger and Green Bay Packer football fan through and through.  In the seventies and then again in the nineties, Diane owned red Corvettes.  She, like her mother Anita, did not care much about top end speed, but she wanted to get to the speed limit before any of the other drivers.

Diane enjoyed watching movies, reading books, playing the piano, harp, and guitar.

More than everything else, Diane loved life and found her greatest joy with her family.  Diane is survived by her husband of 43 years, Steven Price; her 4 children, Jeffrey, Jeremy (Kathy), Laura, and Eric (Lauren); her 15 grandchildren, Madison (Barkley), Tyler, Ryan, Sarah, Aurora, McKenna, Quin, Brodrick, Zachary, Brooklyn, Ruby, Boston, Beckham, Bailey, and Bronson; and her 1 great-granddaughter Sadie; her brothers Ronald Thorstad and John (Debbi) Thorstad, and brother-in-law, Craig Beedy.  Diane is preceded in death by her parents, her sister Dawneen Beedy, and her sister-in-law Laureen Thorstad.

Private services will be held for Diane in Madison, WI where her body will be laid to rest until the glorious day when her spirit and body will reunite – never to be separated again.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children and mailed to Zor Shriners at 6510 Grand Teton Plaza, Madison, WI, 53719.
