Madison - Dolores L. Schwenn died on August 21, 2022. She was born on September 14, 1926, in Chicago, Illinois, to Charles J. and Mae A. Lesko.
Upon graduating from Visitation High School in 1944, she was hired to work for the War Department, U.S. Army in Chicago, while attending classes on nights and weekends pursuing her interest in art and history. When WWII ended, she enjoyed a varied career in private industry for 17 years.
Dolores was united in marriage to Victor C. Schwenn on October 21, 1950, at St. Rita Church, Chicago. After living some years in Indianhead Park, Illinois, they moved to Madison in 1965.
Their marriage was blessed with a daughter, Barbara S. Carpenter (Michael), and two grandchildren, Glenn and Molly Jane.
In Madison, much of her time was devoted to church, school, civic and social organizations as a volunteer. The family enjoyed an active outdoor life, gardening, hiking, golf, and extensive travel.
She is survived by her daughter, Barbara (Michael) Carpenter, and two grandchildren, as well as many treasured nieces and nephews. Her husband Vic preceded her in death, as did two brothers, Charles and Ronald Lesko.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. THOMAS AQUINAS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 602 Everglade Dr., Madison, on Thursday, August 25, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. with Father Bart Timmerman, presiding. Burial will follow at Middleton Junction Cemetery in Middleton. Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.The Mass will also be live-streamed via the following link: www.youtube.com/c/StThomasAquinasChurchMadison/
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Parish, Agrace Hospice Care, or Continuing Care Endowment, Oakwood Foundation, 6209 Mineral Point Rd. Madison, WI 53705.
