Madison – Dona Jean Childs, age 91, passed away on Wednesday, July 28, 2021, at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg. She was born in Stoughton, Wisconsin, on February 14, 1930, the daughter of Carl and Bessie (Cook) Anderson. Dona was united in marriage to Donald James Childs on June 3, 1957. After marriage, Dona ended her career at General Motors Corporation to devote her energies to raising her four children. Dona was a lifelong supporter of her husband’s dedication to the Masonic Fraternity through her activism and memberships with the Order of The White Shrine of Jerusalem and Daughters of the Nile. Dona had a great love of nature, a ferocious appetite for reading, and a passion for volunteering at the Methodist Health Center (Capitol Lakes), where she dedicated over 30 years of her time. Dona also had a great love for the church and was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Madison.
She is survived by three of her children, Byron David Olson (Belinda Trygstad), Nancy Jo Childs and Marshall John Childs (Lynette); her son-in-law Wayne Sadek Jr.; grandchildren Nicholas Hanrahan (Allison Turgeon), David Sadek (Cheri Johnson), Tyler Sadek, Veronica Harris, and Hunter Olson; and her numerous grand puppies; nieces, nephews, and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her siblings Donald and Glen Anderson, and her daughter Marci Lynn Sadek.
Dona was a self-proclaimed ‘sweet little grey-haired old lady,’ and the description couldn’t be more accurate. She was loved by many and cherished by all that crossed her path.
Private services will be held.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) or Agrace HospiceCare.
