Donald J. Bingham, age 90 passed away at Agrace Hospice on Wednesday, November 29, surrounded by family and love. He was born July 9, 1933 to Mabel Walthers and Donald Bingham in Madison, WI. He graduated from East High School where he met his future wife, MaryAnn Nezworski.

Ever the doting husband, Don and MaryAnn were happily married for 60 years until her death in 2012. Together they raised 4 children, daughter April (Chris Seward), son Dan, daughter Carol (Jeffrey Boldt), and daughter MaryBeth (Neilus Faulkner).

As the oldest of 6 children, Don took pride in taking care of others. He was pre-deceased by brothers Gary (Lillian) and John (Nancy). He is survived by siblings James (Wilma), Douglas (Bev) and sister Virginia Domenget (Dennis). 

In addition to his children, Don is survived by his adoring grandchildren, Alexandra, Annalea (Richard), Joseph, Rachel, Libby, and great grandchildren, Ethan, Tristan, Kellan, Abigail and Olivia. He is further survived by many nieces and nephews. 

Don was a firefighter in Madison for 32 years and achieved the rank of Captain. He served in almost every station, volunteered for the water rescue team, and honed his culinary skills cooking for his fellow firefighters. 

Having a zest for life, Don found joy in gardening, painting, and driving a vintage Ford coupe. Though world travelled, he most enjoyed relaxing with family, friends (and his best dog, Jack), discussing the wonders of the universe and the miracle of it all. 

Don was a generous, kind, and gentle man who led a life of love, charity, and goodness. He was always willing to lend a hand and provided support to family, friends, and neighbors with projects large and small. His death leaves a void in our lives, his wisdom and memory leave a lasting blessing.

Services and a celebration of his life will be held Tuesday, December 12, 2023 at Holy Wisdom Monastery, 4200 County Road M, Middleton WI, with visitation beginning at 10, service at 11 and lunch to follow. In lieu of flowers, consider making a donation, in Don’s name, to the Goodman Center or charity of your choice. Special thanks to the staff at Agrace in Fitchburg and the UW Hospital for their exceptional care and kindness.
