Donald Borchers, age 73, of Madison, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Monday July 1 at Agrace Hospice in Fitchburg.
Don was born on June 1, 1951, to Roland (Pat) and Rosemary Borchers. He graduated from Madison East High School in 1969.
Don worked for many years at various jobs, his last being with First Class Mailers. He was very active in sports throughout his life, excelling at softball, basketball, baseball, bowling etc. He competed for many years in the Special Olympics. He was also a regular at MARC.
Everyone that knew Don loved his friendliness and spirit. He could always bring a smile to someone’s face with his own smile and good nature.
Don is survived by his sister Julie Ellingson of Deerfield, brother Pat (Patty) of Racine, sister Pam Burn of Centerville, MN and brother Bill (Suzy) of Madison, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, brother-in-law Mike Ellingson and nephew Travis Ellingson.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Hospice Care staff for their help in Don’s last few days. They would also like to give a huge thank you to the staff at Rise Up, specifically Kelly and Robin, for their wonderful care of Don the last 12 years, and to Angie from IRIS.
“Dapper” Don, you’re with mom and grandma Clem now, we hope all your bingo cards are full.
A private funeral service will be held for Don at a later date.
