Donald Childs

Donald James Childs, age 82 passed away on Tuesday, September 6, 2011. He was born in Eau Claire on November 30, 1928 the son of the late Cliff L. and Wilma (Nelson) Childs.

Jim was a veteran of the U.S. Marines having proudly served his country during the China and Korean Conflict. He was raised as a Master Mason on February 13, 1956 in Hiram Lodge #50. He devoted his life to the Masonic Fraternity, ultimately receiving the highest honor, the 33rd Degree. He was a member of First United Methodist Church as well as Sons of Norway, and Boy Scouts of America Adult Leadership.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Dona; four children, Byron Olson, Marci (Wayne) Sadek, Nancy Jo Childs, and Marshall (Lynette) Childs; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Helen Mae (Charles) Duncan; brother, Tom (Dolores) Childs; sister-in-law, Carol Childs; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, David L. Childs; and first wife, Jodie Henrich Childs.

Funeral services will be held at 10 am, Monday, September 12, 2011 at Cress Funeral Home, 3610 Speedway Rd. Madison with Rev. G. Keith Schroerlucke officiating. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, September 12th from 4 until 6 pm with Masonic Services beginning at 4:45 pm. A visitation will also be held one hour prior to service on Monday. Burial with Military Honors will take place in Lakeview Cemetery, Eau Claire following services.
