Donald D. Henke

July 10, 1943 — August 7, 2008

Sun Prairie Henke, Donald ""Don""   Donald ""Don"" Henke, age 65, went home to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, August 7.   He was born July 10, 1943 in Baraboo , WI, the son of Durlin and Adeline (Leege) Henke.   Don served in the US Army in 1961-62, the US Army reserves until 1967, and then the Navy Seabees until his retirement as a Master Chief Petty Officer (E9) in 1993.   He was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church, where he served as an usher for many years.   Together with his wife, Lee, he enjoyed traveling, volunteering for Rythym and Booms and the Sun Prairie Corn Festival, making award-winning wines, cheering for the Wisconsin Badgers, and delighting in his grandchildren.   Prior to his retirement in 2005, Don worked for Alliant Energy and Wisconsin Power and Light.   On March 29, 1980, Don was united in marriage with Lee (Houldsworth-Hoffland) in Madison.   Survivors include a daughter Shelley (Todd) Wilson of OH; a son Ryan of Green Bay; a step-daughter Shelly (Duane) Hoffland-Reindl of IN; two step-sons, Scott Hoffland of Madison and Brian Hoffland of Token Creek; six grandchildren; a sister Pat (Dave) Osterfund of Prairie du Sac; two nieces, Shawn Osterfund (Connie Douglas) of MA and Sharr (Dennis) Ballweg of Prairie du Sac; and one nephew, David L. (Audrey Gadow) of Benton.   Don was preceded in death by his parents and his loving wife, Lee.   The memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 12 at BETHEL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 312 Wisconsin Ave., where friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.   Reverend Bill White will officiate.   Internment will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 13 at Veterans Memorial Cemetery in King, WI.   In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to the Lee Henke Memorial Fund at Bethel Lutheran Church.
