Madison - Donald Henry "Don" Huebner went Home on November 29, 2018 at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg, Wisconsin after a seven month battle with cancer. He was born on November 20, 1932 to Raymond A. and Olive R. Huebner (Eck) in Waukesha, Wisconsin. He proudly served in the Army 1954-1956 with the Occupation Forces in Germany. Once home, he returned to the University of Wisconsin Madison for a business degree. Upon graduating, he was hired by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation as a Bank Examiner until he retired in 1987. On October 18, 1958, he married the love of his life, Lorna May Wulff Huebner in Grafton, Wisconsin. They made their home in Grafton for 10 years before moving to Madison, Wisconsin. After retiring from the FDIC, he started his second career as a loan review officer for Monona Bank, leaving there in 2000.
He enjoyed being a snowbird to Ft Myers, Florida for many years. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR racing, the Green Bay Packers and the UW Badgers play football. For many years he enjoyed square dancing, even traveling to Germany and London to dance. After his retirement, he enjoyed working in his yard and was very proud of it. His children and their families were the center of his retirement years. He was very appreciative of their accomplishments and attended as many events with them as he could. He loved a good bargain at the antique malls/flea markets and visiting with his friends at stamp club.
He is survived by his wife, Lorna May; children, Peter (Candace) of Mazomanie, Rachel (John) Meek of Madison and Paul (Diane) of Mauston; grandchildren include, Quinn (Michael) Christensen, Grace Huebner, Olivia Huebner , Ashley Meek, Brianna (Ethan) Giebel, Brock Huebner, Carissa Huebner; his sister, Helen Schmidt; and extended family and friends.
A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, December 5 at Midvale Community Lutheran Church, 4329 Tokay Blvd. in Madison with visitation starting at 9:30 am. until the time of service at 11:00 am. A light luncheon will be served at the church following the services. Burial will be held at 11:00 on Thursday, December 6 at Lakefield Cemetery in Grafton.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Midvale Community Lutheran Church, Agrace HospiceCare or a charity of your choosing.
