Donald Dale Marsh, age 92, went to be with his heavenly Father on Sunday, September 5, 2010. Â He was born on December 25, 1917 in Bering Springs, Michigan, a son of the late Chauncey and Lydia (Hub) Marsh. Â He attended Madison East High School and worked for Wolf Kubly as a sheet metalist. Â He enlisted in the Navy in 1942 and served on the U.S.S. Croatan until 1945. Â Upon his return, he worked for Hyland Hall where he met his wife of 62 years, Ruth (Brager). Â They were married at Vermont Lutheran Church in Black Earth on September 6, 1947. Â He then went on to work for Howard Harker and later bought the business known as Harker Heating and Cooling. Â In all, Donald worked in the sheet metal business for 50 years, retiring at age 70, selling the business to Tim Hier. Â In 1960, Donald and Ruth bought a home on Lake Kegonsa, and lived there for over 40 years before moving to a house in town, where he resided until his death. Â He was an avid fisherman and greatly enjoyed the outdoors. Â He especially enjoyed spending time at his properties up North. Donald is survived by his wife, Ruth; two daughters, Lynn (Doug DeLong) Marsh DeLong and Nancy (Matt) Boland; two sons, Wayne (Kim) and Don (Lois); 13 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren (+ two on the way); and one nephew, Glenn (Karen) Marsh. Â He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother and sister-in-law, Harry (Eloise); and many cousins. Â A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 18, 2010 at 11:00 am at First Lutheran Church, 310 E. Washington, Stoughton, with the Rev. Richard Halom officiating. Â Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the time of service. Â In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to HospiceCare or Stoughton Hospital.
