Croatan until 1945.   Upon his return, he worked for Hyland Hall where he met his wife of 62 years, Ruth (Brager).   They were married at Vermont Lutheran Church in Black Earth on September 6, 1947.   He then went on to work for Howard Harker and later bought the business known as Harker Heating and Cooling.   In all, Donald worked in the sheet metal business for 50 years, retiring at age 70, selling the business to Tim Hier.   In 1960, Donald and Ruth bought a home on Lake Kegonsa, and lived there for over 40 years before moving to a house in town, where he resided until his death.   He was an avid fisherman and greatly enjoyed the outdoors.   He especially enjoyed spending time at his properties up North. Donald is survived by his wife, Ruth; two daughters, Lynn (Doug DeLong) Marsh DeLong and Nancy (Matt) Boland; two sons, Wayne (Kim) and Don (Lois); 13 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren (+ two on the way); and one nephew, Glenn (Karen) Marsh.   He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother and sister-in-law, Harry (Eloise); and many cousins.   A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 18, 2010 at 11:00 am at First Lutheran Church, 310 E. Washington, Stoughton, with the Rev. Richard Halom officiating.   Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the time of service.   In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to HospiceCare or Stoughton Hospital.
