Donald L. O’Dell, age 78, of Middleton passed away peacefully in the presence of family on September 10th at Heritage Memory Care.
He was born on December 16, 1943 in Highland Park, Michigan, the son of Chester and Evelyn O’Dell. Don is a graduate of St. Johns Military Academy in Delafield, Wisconsin and shared countless stories of his travels around the world as an Eagle Scout.
He met the love of his life, Susan Hauda, while studying at the University of Wisconsin - Madison and they were married on July 18, 1970. He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Master of Arts in Teaching from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
Don was a loving husband, father, uncle and friend. He was often found on a golf course or in a boat, pulling kids skiing or tubing, smiling at the ask for another loop or to create the biggest wave. He shared his easy laugh, helping hand, joyful spirit and unmatched gentleness with everyone he met. He was a jokester and his zingers that sent his family into belly laughs will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Susan O’Dell, daughter Kristin O’Dell, nephew David O’Dell, grandniece Kendra O’Dell, and grandnephew Finley O’Dell. Don is preceded in death by his father and mother, Chester and Evelyn O’Dell.
