Stoughton- Donald Olstad, age 80, passed away at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg on Tuesday, December 20, 2011. He was born on February 16, 1931, a son of Clarence and Katherine (Abrahamson) Olstad. Don served his country in the Army in Korea. On May 18, 1956, he was united in marriage to Elaine Anderson. He worked at Oscar Mayer for over 50 years, retiring in 2004. He was a foster parent for over 25 years. Don enjoyed traveling each summer with his family. He followed the Packers, Badgers and Brewers. He enjoyed working on the home farm with his brother, especially during the tobacco season. He is survived by his wife Elaine; children, Douglas (Debbie), Diane, Jason, and Ryan (Becca) Olstad; grandchildren, Brandon Olstad, Shelby Olstad, Gina (Neil) Heggelund, and Leslie Olstad; great grandchildren, Leah and Owen Heggelund; brothers, Roger, James (Sonjia) Olstad; and sister-in-law, Helen Olstad. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Wayne and sister, Rose (Vince) Tranchita. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, December 23, 2011 at Covenant Lutheran Church in Stoughton. Burial will follow at East Koshkonong Cemetery. The family will greet friends at church on Friday from 1:00 pm until the time of service at 2:00pm. The family would like to thank Agrace HospiceCare for their compassion and loving care. Don will be remembered as a hard working, loyal employee and devoted family man.
